Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound

The world’s favourite thermal compound now available in a large 12g tube.

Introducing Arctic Silver 5 With its unique high-density filling of micronised silver and enhanced thermally conductive ceramic particles, Arctic Silver 5 provides a new level of performance and stability. Now available at Arctic Silver dealers worldwide, Arctic Silver 5 is definitely The New Reference. Arctic Silver 5 is optimised for use between modern high-power CPUs and high performance heatsinks or water-cooling solutions.

Contains 99.9% pure silver

Arctic Silver 5 uses three unique shapes and sizes of pure silver particles to maximise particle-to-particle contact area and thermal transfer.

High-Density

Arctic Silver 5 contains over 88% thermally Conductive filler by weight. In addition to micronized silver, Arctic Silver 5 also contains sub-micron zinc oxide, aluminium oxide and boron nitride particles. These thermally-enhanced ceramic particles improve the compound’s performance and long-term stability.

Controlled Triple-Phase Viscosity

Arctic Silver 5 does not contain any silicone. The suspension fluid is a proprietary mixture of advanced polysynthetic oils that work together to provide three distinctive functional phases. As it comes from the tube, Arctic Silver 5’s consistency is engineered for easy application. During the CPU’s initial use, the compound thins out to enhance the filling of the microscopic valleys and ensure the best physical contact between the heatsink and the CPU core. Then the compound thickens slightly over the next 50 to 200 hours of use to its final consistency designed for long-term stability. (This should not be confused with conventional phase change pads that are pre-attached to many heatsinks. Those pads melt each time they get hot then re-solidify when they cool. The viscosity changes that Arctic Silver 5 goes through are much more subtle and ultimately much more effective.)

Not Electrically Conductive

Arctic Silver 5 was formulated to conduct heat, not electricity. (While much safer than electrically conductive silver and copper greases, Arctic Silver 5 should be kept away from electrical traces, pins, and leads. While it is not electrically conductive, the compound is very slightly capacitive and could potentially cause problems if it bridges two close-proximity electrical paths.)

Absolute Stability

Arctic Silver 5 will not separate, run, migrate, or bleed.

GREAT!

,

I am not going to write much about the performance of AS5, because there are lots of reviews on the Internet.

I just wanted to say that the 12g tube looks like it is going to last for ever! At first when I looked at coverage area data for the 3.5g tube, I was a bit sceptical, so I took the 12g tube. Now it looks like I’m not going to run out any time soon.

If you change heatsinks often, then this product will definitely give you a great price/performance ratio. If you don’t change the heatsinks often, then maybe 3.5g pack would be better.

Great product for reducing CPU temperature!!

,

I used this AS5 thermal paste for replacing my i7 920 CPU to i7 990X on the existing water cooling system. The i7 990X CPU temperature is able to keep at mid 30 DegC at idle time, and below 65 DegC at 100% load, which is remarkable!! I highly recommend this thermal paste to who need to upgrade their CPU on their existing cooling system.

Much easier to use than other similar compounds - yet to fully test thermal transfer properties

My favourite

,

My favourite thermal paste. I’ve tried the most popular ones and ended up on this. Doesn’t open up a computer without it.

Drop temps by 10 degrees

,

Used this on an AMD Phenom II X6 chip with a Corsair HD50 cooler (push/pull setup). Dropped temps by 10 degrees. Prime95 running for 24hrs, max temps were 35!

Apply a pea size blob in the middle of your CPU and then use the process of securing your cooling block as a way of spreading evenly without air pockets.

Use ArctiClean first!

No way of measuring how good this was (in my case)

,

There’s no way of telling how good this paste is compared to others on the market or against stock that you get as I haven’t tried any others with the same cooler. However it’s fairly cheap for the amount you get and is easy to use… I wouldn’t have thought this would be needed if your cooler comes with its own paste…

I will never user anything else again

,

This is by far the best thermal compound I’ve used - it’s incredibly easy to work with, provides excellent smooth coverage even when just spreading with your finger, and with a 3GHz quad core running at a cool 27C when idle, it’s definitely doing its job in helping to transfer heat through to the CPU cooler. Great product.

Great product

,

Top quality product 99.9% pure silver. Does it make a difference? You bet! High quality syringe too so it’s easy to apply without wastage. Resealable bag to keep it clean/safe. What more could you want for less than a fiver? Top customer service? Check. Quiet PC has got the best. Now stop reading and go buy it. You won’t regret it.

Superb straight away!

,

My Quad Core Q6600 was hitting upwards of 90 degrees Celsius, so I decided to take action. Granted, there was a fair bit of dust in the heatsink, which I vacuum cleaned, but the temperatures dropped to below 40 degrees and are hovering around that mark right now. Fantastic performance from the product and I expect it to get better once it sets in. Thoroughly recommended!

Cool as.....

,

I purchased the thermal paste along with the Arctic Silver Thermal paste remover after reading countless reviews of AS products. I can’t believe this product has worked so effectively. I have read numerous reviews where decreases of 10 Degrees C have been achieved during the “burn-in” process…. Well I can honestly say that mine has dropped from a high 59 Deg C (not quite sure why so high) to a standard 38 Deg C - An amazing drop of 19 DEGREES C, looking forward to analysing the temps post “burn-in”. Fantastic!

Arctic Silver AS5 Premium, 3.5g tube

,

Clean first with ArctiClean, and follow the instructions for your processor type from the Arctic Silver web site and watch your temps fall. My temps dropped by a whopping 10[deg]C and after running a stress test on my Q6700 for 13.5 hours the highest temp was 49[deg]C! (How “COOL” is that? :-D) I now only use ArctiClean and Arctic Silver 5 on all my builds. If you are not doing a lot of cooler swapping it is great value (I’ve changed around 6 coolers and I still have over a third of a tube left). But for system builders and OEM’s the larger tube would be better value for money. Either way, it’s a great product and supplied by a very helpful bunch of people. If you ever need help on quiet PC’s take a look through the forums; if you can’t find the answer you are looking for, register and ask.

Brilliant!

,

My paste of choice. Always works brilliantly. Don’t save by buying some cheap stuff. It is a false economy!
